Birth & Fresh48 Photography
The Deciding Factors:
What’s the difference between a Birth shoot and Fresh48?
A birth shoot is photo-journalling the whole story of your birth. It’s raw and beautiful.
Fresh48 happens after the birth within 48 hours and is more polished and posed.
I offer both together and separate!
Should I ask my doctor, midwife, or doula if they allow a photographer in the room?
Absolutely, it is your responsibility to make sure they know and will allow photography during the labor and delivery. You will also need to make sure if you have a c-section, if I will be allowed in the OR. (See What if I have a C-Section.)
What if labor begins in the middle of the night?
If labor begins in the middle of the night, call me! Even at 2am, I will have my gear ready!
What can I expect when you arrive for a birth?
When I arrive, I will stay out of the way and get shots of the whole room. My goal is to capture everything in a photo-journalism way to tell a story.
When should I book?
As soon as possible to secure your birth week!
What if I have a C-Section?
If you have a c-section and I’m not allowed in the room, I will either give my camera (with proper settings) to someone who will be or I will wait until the all clear.
Is family included in Fresh48 shots?
Absolutely! Anyone you want pictured can be, just make sure they are there when I am!
Before I Arrive:
When do you arrive and how long do you stay?
I usually head to the hospital to start shooting around 6-7cm dilated, day or night. After the birth, I will stay around for about 30min-1 hr to make sure I don’t miss any moments. I will come back after a couple of hours to the next day for you to get Fresh48 shots.
For Fresh48, I will arrive whenever you feel most comfortable within the 48 hr window.
When my labor starts, when should I call you?
Call or text me as soon as you are heading to the hospital, and then call once you are 6-7cm dilated so I can head your way.
After the Pictures are Taken:
How long does it take before my photos are ready?
I have a 24hr turn around!
How do I receive my pictures?
I will send you a link to an online gallery where you can download your pictures straight to your computer and order prints from a professional printer. *USB available upon request
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes! There is deposit required to book and the rest is due before you receive your gallery link.
I’m nervous “too much” will be photographed!
No worries! Never will I show the “doctor’s point of view” or anything you are uncomfortable with showing. Please let me know ahead of time.
Will my images be in black & white or in color?
